If you’re looking to drive meaningful change in the diagnosis and treatment of ME/CFS, Long COVID, and related conditions, the Medical Education Resource Center (MERC) offers a unique and high-impact opportunity to accelerate progress in medical education and clinical care.
A collaboration between Open Medicine Foundation (OMF) and the Bateman Horne Center (BHC), MERC was created to do one thing exceptionally well: equip medical professionals—quickly, effectively, and at scale—with the tools they need to recognize and care for people living with complex chronic illness.

In under three years, MERC has:
✅ Reached over 15,000 providers across 46 states and 89 countries
✅ Delivered 115+ expert-led lectures, including Grand Rounds at top-tier institutions
✅ Developed practical, accessible tools for clinicians and patients
✅ Created a comprehensive Clinical Care Guide—launching this spring
MERC is lean—but its reach is anything but small.
Our educational work is driven by a cross-disciplinary team of experts—each contributing a portion of their role to MERC while also managing full clinical caseloads and conducting research. Their dedication enables us to scale impact far beyond our walls, while staying grounded in real-world patient needs.
We do this work because we’ve seen the knowledge gaps—and we understand how urgently they need to be closed.
Your donation directly supports 2025–2026 MERC initiatives like:
- Grand Rounds and academic lectures that shape institutional understanding
- Training for nurse practitioners, physician assistants, and primary care providers
- Clinical mentoring for visiting providers, fellows, and residents
- Patient-centered videos on pacing, PEM, and disability documentation
- The next Mito video on Pacing for PEM & Upright Activity
- Dissemination of our Clinical Care Guide to clinics, institutions, and medical boards
- A case review series that translates frontline insights into published knowledge
When you support MERC, you’re enabling real-world progress. You’re helping today’s providers become tomorrow’s experts—and ensuring that patients everywhere have access to informed, compassionate care.
